Notes from the ACC & 5 CERTAIN TRADES

Well, I was at the ACC tonight and although the Leafs played well, the air certainly came out of the building after the Charra empty net goal. It did spark a lot of emotion, some very sad as Lindros is done for the season and as he spoke, almost in tears, some speculate it may even be the end of his career. It also was a time for angry chatter and I heard that JFJ is even looking to trade Sundin, if he can find the trade return, which also must be with a team where Sundin will waive his NTC.

In fact, I heard that JFJ and Sutter have scheduled a phone meeting for tomorrow. Stay tuned!


Now the Cbarnezz "5 Most Certain" Trade Predictions...

1. OILERS – looking first n foremost for a goaler
1st choice: Bruins package of Samsonov and Raycroft (price might be too high though)
2nd choice: Anaheim’s Giguere (Burke asked for Hemsky, will settle for Torres & Morrison)
3rd choice: Phoenix’s Cujo (+ either Sanderson or Nash in a package)
4th choice: Toronto’s Belfour (am hearing D or 2nd pick returning)


2. CANUCKS - are interested 1st’ly in DEFENCE, a 3rd line C & veteran back-up goaler
Defence: Weinrich, Mitchell, Kuba, Klee, Sopel, Poti, J.Marshall, Carney, Richardson, Mara & Morris
Centre: Jokinen, Savard, White, McCammond, Allison, Comrie, Hrdina, York,
Goalers: Roloson, Guigere, Weekes, Cujo, Belfour, Snow
A trade package is likely, examples Nonis has asked about… (in order of interest & possibility)
St.Louis – Weinrich with McCammond and maybe even Lalime
Minnesota – White with Mitchell & Roloson
Anaheim – McDonald with Carney & Marshall or Giguere with Carney
Phoenix – Comrie with O’Donnell & Cujo or Johnson with Mara & Cujo
Toronto – Allison with Klee
Columbus – Hrdina with Richardson
Rangers - Weekes with Poti
Islanders – Mike York with Sopel & maybe even Snow, but not likely


3. FLAMES - will pick-up a first line Centre & gritty winger, & maybe veteran D
1st choice: Jokinen from FLA (price might be too high though)
2nd choice: Savard (Waddell will not trade him unless he gets Leopold back)
3rd choice: Allison from Leafs (hearing Sutter has big interest in Tucker & asked about Sundin)
4th choice: York from the Iles (may pkge him with Parrish or Bates or outside shot a Blake)


4. Senators – C for 2nd line and despite what Muckler says they will pick-up a goalie
Centre: Jokinen, Savard, Comrie, York,
Goalers: Roloson, Biron, Weekes, Cujo, Toskola (yes despite his signing) & even Lalime
1st choice: Jokinen from FLA & Roloson
2nd choice: Savard (Waddell won’t trade unless he gets Meszaros, Volchenkov or Pothier +)
3rd choice: York from the Iles (may pkge in outside shot with Parrish)
4th choice: 1 of Biron, Toskola or may settle for Lalime


5. Carolina – will add a defensive power play quarterback
Defence: looked at McCabe, Mitchell, Kuba, Sopel, Mara or Morris & Gonchar
1st choice: McCabe from Toronto (price may be too high)
2nd choice: Marra from Phoenix
3rd choice: Mitchell or Kuba from Minnisota
4th choice: Gonchar from Pittsburg
