THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM...

Signings Update

Minnesota Wild
Have re-signed goaltender Manny Fernandez to a multi-year contract
Note: Roloson is as good as gone in the next week

Dallas Stars
Have signed defenceman Philippe Boucher to a $7.5 million, three-year contract extension

Injury Alerts

Nashville Predators
Yannick Perrault was placed on the IR yesterday after he left Thursday's game with a knee injury, Preds have said he will be out 2-4 weeks.
Mark Eaton, who also injured his knee in the same game but is day to day.
PREDictions: Despite having Legwand back, the loss of Perreault will mean Nashville re-opens talks for a C. They have already talked to the Leafs about Allison, NYI's about York and Mtl. about Ribiero.

Vancouver Canucks
Injury woes continue for the Nucks as Kesler left the game with what appeared to be a serious looking knee injury. Did receive some good news thought that Salo is day to day, but be skeptical of this as a reliable source says it's more like week to week than day to day.
Predictions: Nonis has already expanded his search from defence/deffence/defence to deffence/defence + a 2nd line C, not to mention a veteran back-up. Only trouble is the Canucks may not be able to afford all 3. Minni talks continue with Nonis asking Wild what they want in return for a White/Kuba or Mitchell/Roloson pkge. A good source in Ohio says Nonis called McLean to ask about a Hrdina/Richardson package (his cheaper Plan B option).

Talks have slowed a bit from the last 3 days, which to be honest were out-of-control. I think a ton of teams are grabbing their collective breath to get past games tonight before teams come out ready to deal in what will be a freakin crazy week. For some teams like Toronto, NY Islanders, San Jose tonight or Minnisota tomorrow, will be their season!

* Be sure to come back tonight for what I am sure will be some bigggggggggggggggggggg talks down at the ACC, which I will do my best to post after I get back from the game.

** Also, coming soon...the 5 most likely trades & the 5 BIGGEST TRADES.
